Viking Fury, 2nd ed.
VIKING FURY 2nd Ed. is a solitaire game of the Viking expansion period. The game allows you to direct your longboats from Scandanavia and head west to the British Isles, or south to the main European continent, in search of booty and an eventual new home. This Battlegame book has been available on Amazon since 2025, but is being made available directly from Minden for the first time. It uses the original game system, with some minor enhancements. The game ranks high in playability, and low in complexity, enabling you to vicariously explore various Viking expeditions in a historical setting.
Viking Fury is a strategic level solitaire game covering the initial Viking expansion into western Europe in the late 8th-early 9th century. The player controls the Viking side and attempts to acquire treasure for his home location, while potentially planting new settlements across the sea. Each game turn represents a variable amount of actual time. The object of the game is to bring as much treasure back home to Scandinavia (and establish settlements over the sea) within a set number of Expeditions.
The game was originally published in Panzer Digest #14, but the 2nd ed. appears here as a stand alone game, with added scenarios and campaign games. The game comes in a 40-page full-color 8.5" x 11" book that contains all game components... simply provide a standard deck of playing cards and a six-sided die, and you'll be ready to play.
What makes this new edition particularly interesting are two things: First, is the addition of new historical scenarios, listed below.

Second, is the addition of Solo Pencil-Mode Rules. This allows you to play the game without game counters, instead writing progress of the game on the special game maps (provided), meaning you can play the game almost anywhere.
What's Included: 40-page 8.5" x 11" color book containing standard rules, optional rules, over 100 game counters (allowing up to three people to play, in addition to solo), several game maps, Pencil-Mode game maps, several scenarios, historical commentary, all necessary game tables. A special Introductory Game is also provided, a simple alternative to the regular game that will be appealing to younger gamers, and those not familiar with strategy boardgames.
Viking Fury, 2nd ed. was designed to be a fun game of strategy, based on historical events. Though specifically designed for solo play, rules include the option of playing with up three gamers. Designer: Gary Graber.

PDF "POSTAGE" RATIONALE
Each order (whether for books, PDFs, or both) automatically includes the standard flat $4.50 postage charge when you check out. Why is this, if you are only buying PDF items that are emailed and require no postage? First, we have taken this fact into consideration, and offer lower purchase prices for each individual PDF item to fully offset this. For instance, if you order one PDF item for $9.00, we priced it at $9.00 and not $13.50 (and zero postage). Second, this allows for a built in discount if ordering more than one PDF. By charging $4.50 per order (instead of adding $4.50 to the cost of each individual item), it encourages you to save by buying more than one item at a time. (Example: If you order three $9.00 items, the combined price ($9 + $9 + $9 + 4.50), which comes to $31.50--a savings of $9.00 had you ordered three items at $13.50 each (e.g. $40.50 and zero postage).
Bottom line: This is a reasonable policy that works in your favor by allowing volume discounts; the more items you order at one time, the better your bargain.
